NASCAR "pulled the plug on the race Saturday night pretty quickly, giving the Fox TV crew a chance to save their best stuff for the race broadcast. Thank God they didn't sit around for 2 or 3 hours waiting for clear skies. The talk of race teams having to scramble for hotel rooms for Saturday night shows what a logistical nightmare a rain out can be.
Here is this weeks top questions to be answered by "The Pit Crew" ON PIT ROW this week. Lets hear from you. God knows Charlie will need some help answering these intelligently.
The Buzz ON PIT ROW is:
Why is a "competition caution" preferable to letting race teams fill their fuel cells before the restart on Sunday ?
The Fast Lap wants to know:
1) Who is to blame for Kevin Harvick's accident on pit road?
2) Robert Yates Racing says it will definitely field Fords in 2008; Dale Earnhardt Jr. says he will definitely drive Chevys in 2008. How is that going to work?
3) How can Johnny Benson's Tyler Motorsports Toyota make the first race it attempts, and so many Toyotas can't make more than a handful of races?
4) Could NASCAR be setting itself up to endure the same fate as Indycars if someone had the guts and wherewithal to start a competing series?
Let us know how you feel about these questions or anything else that happened at Richmond last weekend. If we like your comments we could use them on the air during Tuesday's show. Leave us a comment on the blog or call the show--toll free at 1-877-502-8255 between 5-7pm edt on Tuesdays.
If your radio market does not air any or all of ON PIT ROW-- tell them they should and listen to our show on www.racetalkradio.com Thursdays from 7-9pm et.

I think the full-time Toyota teams are spread too thin, trying to build different types of cars. Wyler Racing was smart to simply focus on building one good CoT. I know they did a lot of testing with Rudd last year.

Competition caution wa thrown because the night before they 'raced' 12 laps. This caution was good, it gave the teams time to check and change tires incase anything had gone wrong over night and to top up so they could have a full run in before regular pit stops.
Fast Laps ?'s:
1) Harvick's spotter!
2) Easy, they are not going to merge.
3)Entry list was slightly smaller and there was less than 0.6 of a second from the pole to the 49th qualifier - as much as one little slip by the driver is the difference between starting in the top 10 and going home. Also Johnny Benson has better experience than say AJ at Red Bull.
4)No, they own too many of the better tracks for that to happen, and the second tier track owners are in deep with the France family as well.

Mike:That's good info on Wyler racing working on the CoT with Rudd.
Bob:I still think the crew chief has the responsibility in the pits. I'm with you on everything else. Benson is also a very underrated driver.
Thanks to you both for commenting. We used both of you ON PIT Row last night. Plugged your blogs (all of them that I know of) as well.
