Tony Stewart's third annual Prelude to the Dream on Wednesday at Eldora Speedway was a blast.
By now, anybody interested knows that Carl Edwards won the feature race, out dueling Jeff Gordon for the chance to do back-flips in the dirt.
Employment complications - I couldn't get the day off - kept me from attending and although I sprang for a pay-per-view for the first time in my life, I had to tape it and the tape remains unwatched.
So, I'm getting my Dream news on-line, on television and, fortunately, first hand from a co-worker luckier than me. Ron did attend and has been smiling all day. The fact that his personal favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt Jr. was not a player hasn't dimmed his enthusiasm for the event.
When Ryan Newman and Bill Elliot got together, Elliot's car went upside down right in front of Ron and Darrell Waltrip passed close enough to his seat that my friend could have touched him.
He was there when Darrell drove the water truck and saw first hand how well Cup drivers like Clint Boyer, Ken Shrader and yeah, even Juan Pablo handled late model dirt cars.
Tony Stewart's Prelude to the Dream is one of those special deals that if you're a race fan, you need to be there if possible.
I just put in for the vacation day for next year. I'm goin' with Ron and we're takin' his awesome 1957 Chevy tribute to the late Dale Earnhardt. You have to see it to appreciate it. We'll meet you at Eldora.

Of course in Podunk I had no sat signal again.
Send me a copy of the tape. Pretty please??
