A summer holiday without a major auto race has a something's missing feeling for me. Used to be the Indy 500, World 600, Southern 500 and Firecracker 400 were part of the fabric of the barbecue holidays. Wimbledon just doesn't cut it for me on the Fourth.
The picture here, taken by ON PIT ROW's Steve Wronkowicz at the ARCA REMax Series race at Toledo Speedway this spring features ARCA driver and 2008 presidential candidate Darrell Basham, RaceTalkRadio.com's and Uncle Sam wanna-be Dennis Mickelson and me. I meant to use it in my July 4th post. A day late, but worth it for the yuks I think.
Back to the day job today though and the buzz around here is all about Daytona. We have this simple little fantasy game, the NASCAR Chain Game running in conjunction with ON PIT ROW. Many of the folks that I work with are involved and some, who had little if any NASCAR interest before joining the game, are just flat hooked now.
I know many of you readers are really into the fantasy craze. Some of our favorite blog reads are great sources of stats for gamers. Mike's site is great as is One Bad Wheel. Of course you can go the scientific route with the Church of the Great Oval's astral predictions too.
I usually consult my pal Steve. Then I pick the exact opposite of his reasoning. This is however, not working out too well for me either. I need some luck to get back in contention with nine races to go.
For those of you willing to back up your hunches with cash, we have partnered with BetUS.com as our recommended source for your sports betting and especially NASCAR betting needs. Check them out.
If you love motor sports, you’ll love to bet on NASCAR. In the BetUS.com online sportsbook, we have the latest NASCAR odds, futures and props for every race of the season. Join BetUS.com today and you’ll soon love how online sports betting makes each lap exciting.
That's all I have for now. If you have time, check out the Fast Lap blog at Thunder Lounge. That's where Steve and I continue the weekly Fast Lap debate from the radio show. The blog is a little different. For the radio feature our answers are limited to thirty seconds. On the blog, you get 100 words or less to answer. Then we let the counter-comments fly. It's fun but we sure would like some more bloggers willing to mix it up. It's more of a comment blog than anything. Give it a try.
MY method is to read anything and everything...thorough study of all stats..check the Church of the Great Oval for some astrology help...look at the tea leaves in my mom's teacup...kiss a lucky fish and then forget everything and follow my gut feeling....success rate poor but I'm usually high on the laugh meter..

Robert, you and I would be competitve. I never thought of the fish though. That's pretty good.

I see you took my "betting" advise seriously. Way to go.
I usually spin an old twister spinner that I have decked out with the driver pictures too, Robert:)
