ON PIT ROW has been broadcast live from Toledo Speedway since April.
We have been telling the story of the speedway throughout the year; the special programs, visiting series and weekly series have all been dissected. Most of the season, long time Toledo track announcer and Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame member, Gary Lindahl has been there to help us through the local interviews and history. Tonight we had the pleasure, in Gary's absence, to have ARCA president Ron Drager, and ARCA VP of Marketing and Communications, Mark Gundrum join us ON PIT ROW.
What any easy week to have these two on the show. Not only was there some great action with the ARCA REMax Series at Pocono to talk about, there was a plethora of NASCAR Series stuff that we wanted to get Ron and Mark's opinions on.
We asked Ron for his take on the Robby Gordon situation in Montreal and how he would have handled the situation if it had been his series under attack by a rogue driver. Ron was very candid in his response that the sanctioning body has to have control of its drivers and those drivers and teams must be held accountable for their actions. Regardless of whether the decision on the track was correct one or not, the rules are the rules and are not up for discussion.
Sitting between Charlie and me immediately after a heated debate about the Robby Gordon affair, a wary Mark Gundrum talked about ARCA's remaining schedule including their first ever attempt to have CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND for the ARCA Re/Max Series and the Lincoln Welders Truck Series at Toledo to end the year. Mark also talked about young Michael McDowell and his assault on 7 time champ Frank Kimmell current points lead.
You can hear these interviews in there entirety on one of our broadcast stations or on Race Talk Radio Thursday evening at 7pm EDT.
Add to those an interview with Fox Sports and the Speed Channel's Jeff Hammond and this week's ON PIT ROW was a great show.
Don't miss this one!
I will have to listen online thursday night..I figure from me to Toledo isn't that far so the champions weekend might be something to attend if the schedule allows...
