Awesome Bill once again proves why he was NASCAR's most popular driver for 16 years. Elliott offered his ride in the Wood Brothers #21 to Boris Said for Sunday's Centurion Boats at the Glen.
Ford Racing PR gives this account from Len Wood:
"Bill Elliott came up a little while ago, and I guess he had run into Boris across the garage, and he asked him what he was doing, and Boris said, 'Nothing,' you know, he had missed the race. I don't know from where it started, if Bill asked him to drive our car or what. I think that's the way it went because Bill came to me and said that in the best interests of the team, let's put Boris in. He said I'll give it my best effort, and Bill's an excellent road racer, the first place he ever won was at Riverside, but he suggested putting Boris in. We first cleared it with sponsors and then went to NASCAR and cleared it with them."

Boris had the #21 up to eighth on the happy hour speed charts. Boris--bring that puppy home first and see the respect you will gain. Hopefully Bill will hang around for a victory celebration. It was his idea after all.

Bill is a classy individual..He not only helped the Woods Brothers ..He gave Boris a lift in spirits after the friday qualifying boondoggle

When I heard about Elliot pulling over to let Said take the wheel, it got me all choked up. Elliot's action is one of the reasons why the sport of racing is so great. And why Awesome Bill has earned the rank of Racing Legend.
