Tony Stewart spun in turn one; but fought back to win the Centurion Boats at the Glen when Jeff Gordon did the same thing with two laps remaining while leading.
Stewart has now reeled off three wins in the last four events to solidify his placement in the Chase. His thirty bonus points moves him to the top of the class with Jeff Gordon and Jimmy Johnson when the Chase begins. Stewart is on his usual mid-summer surge. While others have slid and wheel-hopped their way off the hot sheet.
Ron Fellows, Boris Said and Patrick Carpentier all had solid runs in their part-time rides for Cup regulars.
Give us your thoughts on these questions as we leave the road courses behind for '07 and move on to Michigan:
The Buzz ON PIT ROW is:
Why is NASCAR so inflexible with their weekend schedule, when they had time to move Cup qualifying to Saturday?
The Fast Lap this week asks:
1) Why isn't NASCAR more concerned about the Montoya-Harvick scrap during the race?
2) Will the expected move of Joe Gibbs Racing to Toyota get the car maker to the next level?
3) After five exceptional road course races, is it time for NASCAR to add more to their Cup and Busch (GN) schedules?
4) Why is so much made of a NASCAR driver saying a swear word, that could be heard on most Second Grade playgrounds, during a TV interview.
Let us know how you feel; about these questions, or anything else that happened during the Centurion Boats at the Glen. If we like your comments, whether we agree or not, we could use them on the air during Tuesday's ON PIT ROW. Old "smoke" was on his game especially after he made a mistake and spun...

1 Montoya and harvick..don't make a mountain out of molehill a little passion in the sport is a good thing
2yes just in the motor department alone which is sub standard right now...
3 No No No..enough already..they need too carve back the cookie cutters and add short tracks..no more road courses
4beats me...

1. Because it was much ado about nothing. It was a boys will be boys non-event in the heat of battle.
2. I'm guessing yes. They have been improved in the last 6 weeks or so and there's no reason to believe the Gibbs organization won't assist the Toys going to the front.
3. Yes, probably one in each series.
4. The only people making a stink over this past weekend are the ink-stained wretches of the MSM and the usual partisans that hang out in the forums.
