Kenseth had a shot but JJ proved to be too much for Matt to handle.
This weeks fast laps will come at you quick and to the point, as this ON PIT ROW reporter deals with a nasty bug and has me doing some bus driving. Here they are. Take your best shot.
The Buzz ON PIT ROW is:
Now that Jimmy Johnson is in the points lead will Jeff Gordon catch him?
The Fast Lap this week asks:
1) Bruton Smith has purchased New Hampshire Speedway. Should NASCAR allow one of their races to move to Las Vegas?
2) Even though Jimmy Jonson won at Texas; was it a good decision to race Matt Kenseth for the win?
3) Who will do better in 2008; Junior at Hendricks or Kyle Busch at Gibbs?
4) What should NASCAR do to change the Busch (Nationwide) Series for 2008?
Let us know how you feel about these questions, or anything else that happened at Texas. If we like your comments, whether we agree or not, we may use them on the air during Tuesday's ON PIT ROW. 1.I don't think NASCAR has much say do they?
2.I think Johnson going for the win was an easy decision. He had the car, the tires and 15 extra points to gain. That is exactly what NASCAR wanted when they awarded more points for wins.
3. Jr in '08, but Shrub will win the Cup within 3 years whatever it is called by then (AT&T Cup? Ha!).
4.NASCAR could begin by increasing the purses and limiting that to non-Cup drivers.

Buzz: Probably not.
Fast Laps:
1) Does NASCAR really have a choice? He owns those dates and he do anything he wants with them. That is what he did with the other track he bought, isn't it?
2) Loaded question. From a fan perspective, yes. From Chad's perspective, no. My feeling on this is twofold; 1) he knows that the Championship is going to be a tight one (Jeff Gordon took 2 tires early so he go out and lead a lap to get those 5 bonus points, just in case) and that position represented more points gained in his favour, 2) This race has the 3rd highest payout of the season (behind The Daytona 500 and The Brickyard 400), that would be nice to win.
I think option 1 is a better choice though.
3)Junior, because the ride he is taking over is better organized/run than the one Kyle is taking over.
4) Limit the number of races that Full-time Cupsters are allowed to run. For example, each full-time Cup driver is limited to say no more than 10 Busch races per year.
I think that is a good and viable solution. This still allows Cup teams to run a full-time Busch team, but to do so they must have at least 3 or 4 different drivers if they are using Cup regulars.
This would force these teams to look at their developmental drivers more, or hire on full-time Busch series regulars to fill out the schedule.
This would allow the Busch/Nationwide series to become more of a driver developmental series that NASCAR says it is.
As an aside, wouldn't it be neat if they changed the cars that ran in that series to Mustangs, Cameros, and 'Cudas? What would the compariable Toyota be? The Celica?
This would provide the hurting north american car maufactures another venue to showcase their wares to the american public.

Rowdy Busch may be a punk, but he can get up on the wheel and vroom...he'll be strong in the #18!

1..Nascar doesn't have much say ..besides I don't think Brian france has the where withall to take on Bruton...New hampshire will lose a date..which in my view is disgusting..
2 probably not but it was good to see..and it might have raised the bar to the point where point racing won't cut it in the chase..
3 tough call ..Junior I see some teething problems with Toyota in the early part of the year..
4..to big a question for this amount of time and space...
